The 2021 California Retirement Management Account (CARMA) grant cycle opened on Sunday, June 20.
Dedicated to preserving and protecting the quality of life of Thoroughbreds, CARMA has granted more than $4.8 million to organizations that retire, retrain, and re-home California-raced horses. With the support of the racing industry, generous donations, and fundraising events that CARMA can allocate grants to assist nonprofits specializing in the retirement of racehorses. The grants help these organizations with the cost of hay and feed, health and veterinary services, general farm upkeep, and much more.
CARMA’s grant application materials are available for download on our website. Once receiving a grant, organizations become a part of a supportive off-track-Thoroughbred community of more than 20 non-profits and become valued participants in the CARMA Placement Program.
To apply, follow these steps:
- Download the Grant Application 2021, Current Inventory Sheet, and the Monthly Inventory Sheet.
- Mail the completed application and materials to CARMA at 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007
- Qualifying applicants will receive a site inspection
