California Retirement Management Account (CARMA) is pleased to announce that CHRB Commissioner Bo Derek and CHRB Chairman Chuck Winner have joined the CARMA Advisory Board. “We are thrilled to have Bo and Chuck join us in our efforts,” said CARMA Founder Madeline Auerbach, “Each has been a strong supporter of CARMA over the years and we look forward to working with them on behalf of our equine stars.”
Chuck Winner is the founder of a marketing and crisis management firm based in Beverly Hills, CA. He is a long-time Thoroughbred owner, often joining partnerships that have campaigned such horses as Liberian Freighter, I Want Revenge, and Walkslikeaduck. Appointed to the California Horse Racing Board in 2012, he currently serves as Chairman.
Bo Derek, iconic film star and model, is an avid horse lover and riding enthusiast. Known for her support of animal welfare, Bo serves on several charitable organizations to benefit animals, including Richard Branson’s Wild Aid and various veterans’ organizations.
CARMA (California Retirement Management Account) is a charitable 501 (c)(3) organization formed to assist Thoroughbred rehabilitation and retirement organizations that facilitate the care and retraining of horses who raced in California and whose racing careers have ended. CARMA ensures the racehorses have retirement options by managing and disbursing funds to qualified retirement facilities caring for such horses.
