Bridging the gap between the racing world and the horse show world, is the 2nd Annual Trainer & Jockey Calcutta, with race horse trainers and jockeys navigating their mounts through a jumper course. Spectators will be able to buy a win ticket on their favorite team and the pool will be split between the winning ticket holders and CARMA, to continue funding the aftercare of Thoroughbreds. Riders will include trainers John Sadler, Matt Chew, Kristen Mulhall, Janet Armstrong, Jeff Metz, James Cassidy, Emily Mode, Carl O’Callaghan, and Keith Craigmyle; jockeys Martin Garcia, Aaron Gryder, Edwin Maldanado, Kayla Stra, Desiree Stra, and Britany Smith; former jockeys Zoe Cadman, David Neusch, Jack Stack, and Shelly McGrath.
The event will be featured live on HRTV.com, the network for horse sports. The December 13th evening event will feature a holiday party, including dinner and a no-host bar.
The Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show (TCHS) will conduct its third and final show of the 2014 season December 13-14, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center (LAEC) in Burbank, CA. Presented by the Siegel-CARMA Foundation, the Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show spotlights retired racehorses in their second careers as accomplished sport horses.
With the success of the two previous shows this year, the TCHS has a rapidly growing fan base of both show horse and race horse enthusiasts. The LAEC, rich in tradition of offering world-class equestrian events, offers an ideal location for the season finale. Spectators are always welcome anytime during the show.
In addition to the Hunter Derby, Jumper Stakes and Dressage Challenge, classes include Hunters, Jumpers, Equitation, Combined Training, In Hand, Western Dressage, Western Pleasure and Gymkhana with champions awarded in each division. Year-end Thoroughbred Incentive Program Awards also will be offered.
“The TCHS series continues to raise awareness and open up more opportunities for Off-Track Thoroughbreds to find second careers in new disciplines, while connecting the racing and sport horse worlds,” said Candace Coder-Chew, CARMA Board Member and Director of Print & Graphics, Santa Anita Park, “That has always been a major goal for us.”
